Volunteer – Meals on Wheels

Hours of operation: Monday – Friday, Lunch (11:20 am – 1pm)
Locations: Tillsonburg, Burgessville, Norwich
Meals on Wheels Program (MOW)
Hot, healthy and tasty meals are delivered to client homes meeting every dietary need, at a reasonable cost. Meals include a soup, entrée, and dessert. Volunteers assist with deliveries Monday-Friday during lunch.
Role Description
Under the supervision of the Special Services Coordinator, the MOW delivery volunteer will assist in the delivery of hot meals to client homes. This will include pick up of meals from a local kitchen, transporting meals to client homes and delivery of thermal bags back to the kitchen. A client safety check is an important part of the service, so our friendly, trustworthy volunteers are happy to get to know the client to ensure that they are safe and secure during each and every visit.
Position Duties:
- Deliver meals to clients
- Respond to client inquiries
- Be courteous, respectful and professional to clients, volunteers and kitchen staff
- Train and provide support to all new volunteers as required
- Provide feedback to Special Services Coordinator of any concerns
Qualifications and Skills:
- Volunteers must have a reliable vehicle
- Ability to work with a team and independently
- Friendly, compassionate, outgoing
- Previous customer service experience is an asset but not mandatory
- Strong communication skills
- Must be able to lift thermal bags up to 20 lbs
- Police Record Check
